It's been about seven months since my last entry. Spring is here, today, officially, but it's been in the 70's all week. In March! In Pennsylvania, this is when we get the BIG snowstorm of the year. So it's nice. I just hope that this doesn't mean that the summer is going to be dreadfully warm. We'll see.

My job is wonderful. I work basically 3-11 and design the ads in the newspaper. It's not the most creative job, but it's a great entry-level position. I couldn't have asked for something better if there were such a thing as a job fairy.

As far as more creative things go, I've been entering the fabric contests on Spoonflower.com and have quite a collection of fabric designs. I'd like to win, but just entering is fun because I'm getting the experience of creating fabric.

A while ago, I found this company in Australia that sells the Instastamp Craft Stamp Maker, which lets you create your own rubber stamps with some limited chemical use. I kind of wanted one, but it was like $500, which seemed excessive. So after looking on Etsy and seeing a large market of rubber stamp sellers, I decided that I wanted to do it and found the Teresa Collins Stampmaker, by Photocentric. They also make a bigger machine that can make up to size A4 at a craft store quality for $300.

So lots of creative endeavors, once I figure out exactly what I'm going to create.

Literature? Blah.

Oh hey there. Oh my. It's going on week 9 at school. I'm going slightly crazy. I have to write a 3-5 page MLA paper on The Amazing Adventures of Kavelier and Clay for Wednesday and I am just completely distracted and the internet is just so shiny. Everything else for most of my other classes is coming along swimmingly. But not American Literature. I just need to not get an F in the class. The last 3 quarters have been blessedly wonderful in that I haven't failed anything miserably in a long time.

I finished, for the most part, my flash portfolio. I really like it. Flash is actually kind of fun/very smooth to work with once you can figure out all the kinks in your timeline. The portfolio is over here: http://slc1510.aisites.com/flash/ Thoughts or opinions?

And I also have updated and remembered about my http://flavours.me/jubilli account. My last public entry was like more than a year ago and talked about crazy nonsense. Which isn't much different than this, really. Oh well.

While looking for a photo reference for Intermediate Illustration (for an illustration featuring famous hair) today I stumbled a quote from Tom Cruise.

"On the discovery of the pregnancy; "Oh, I—I looked at her. And I went, 'You’re gonna tell me if you're pregnant, aren't you?' It was a moment where… It was one of those things. And I knew at that moment she was pregnant. ’Cuz I notice things in people.”

Because he notices things? Freaking LOL. And yes, I realize that this is over 2 years old, but crazy things are still funny years later.

I'm doing an illustration of either Katie Holmes or Suri Cruise, I think, for the assignment.

01) Twitter! (http://www.twitter.com/jubilli)
Updating is quite addictive, especially since I figured out how to do it via my phone. I don't update nearly as much as I change my facebook status, but I think I change it about once a week. If you're over there, feel free to follow me as I complain about school and boys and say random crap that comes to my head.

02) Tumblr! (http://jubilli.tumblr.com)
I'm starting a random design blog called "Feeding Dynamite to Sharks" over here! If I can actually update it, I think it'll be super fun and a good exercise in terminology. Not exactly the most professional thing ever, but I don't give a fug.

I'm in a computer classroom at school and the Macs in here have Firefox 3.0 which is super funky. I don't know if I like it or will update to it on my Windows laptop when I get to it.

School is very cold today and I wish I had plans tonight. Blah.

ETA: I watched The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning and it made me cry. I'm such a baby about Disney movies, lol. The animation is quite lovely and it's a fun movie. I still wanna know how the DNA of two red-headed mermaids resulted in only one red-headed offspring out of seven. Remembering from Bio in high school, that's not exactly how it usually works, is it? But then again, mermaids and animated cartoons are not exactly rabbits or pea plants a la Mendel.

Fandomonium!!! And other things.

Gunnm: Yoko/Gally
01. I was going to start reading Twilight but I absolutely cannot get passed the first page. It is somewhat atrocious, but I cannot put my finger on why. I've had the book for at least a year. The movie comes out this year and if I cared about Edward/Bella, etc. I would totally want to see it... but I honestly just don't care. Maybe she's too emo? It just seems retarded from page one. Who really wants a sparkly boy any way? And werewolves are probably sexier.

02. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince HD Trailer!!! This movie looks so made of win. I imagine the scene in the cave... at the end is going to be heartbreaking. I actually have the book sitting on my lap now and I'm probably going to read it... after...

03. I finish re-reading the Nightworld books by L.J. Smith! Or Ljane? Whichever. But any way, I've been reading them since I came home from Florida last month. I'm almost done with Huntress now and there's only a few more to go. And then like 10 years until Strange Fate, which according to her Amazon blog is going to be at least 700 pages long, but it will be worth it. Or not really? I have mixed feelings about the stories she's been posting on her website. I'm glad that she's writing, but the stories are um, blahness. And a second Vampire Diaries trilogy about Damon? I just don't know how I feel about that. I'm kinda done with Dark Reunion. Let people die, you know?

04. I am in love with Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog! I only wish that it had been online for longer. I definitely want to buy it when it comes out on DVD and yay for a possible 4th part! Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion absolutely rocked in it!

05. The Dark Knight was awesome and at the same time dark and dismal. Heath Ledger was seriously hardcore as the Joker and it's going to be hard to fill his shoes. The whole Harvey Dent storyline was wasted, but there was excellent foreshadowing for the next villianess.

06. I don't remember what the other things were that I wanted to write about. I know that it's been a long time since I've posted. And I haven't posted regarding fandom in forever. I guess it's getting really good lately and soonish.

07. I started up at school in Pittsburgh, which is making me crazy busy but it's good. I have like 2 years left and I just wanna get done and get a real job. Other than that life is basically work and hanging out. It's all good. :)

So, finally, I received news from my school about whether or not I would be receiving my Associate's Degree. And despite getting a D in my Speech class, I am getting my degree!!! YAY! I am so happy about it. I won't have to rewrite my resume and make crap up about why I've been in community college for 3 and a half years.

I start at the Art Institute in July and hopefully most, if not all of my credits will transfer.

4 days til I leave the cold for the Sunshine State!!! <3

It's really cold here in PA. A week ago, I went out shopping in sandals and no coat and I was fine and now it's like pre-snow weather. Hate it!

Love this video!!! Very good for designers...
